There’s a lot of hype around this bag, especially since it won Carryology’s 2017 Best Carry-on. So how does this baby perform on the move? This is perhaps the most important part. It is a nitpicky thing to gripe about but it is an obstacle nonetheless. For me, that makes the bag have a slightly higher learning curve than I would’ve liked. So while I appreciate having so many options, I foresee it would take a nontrivial amount of time and experimentation to best utilize them for trips. Maybe I don’t have too many accessories, but when packing them I found myself wondering which pocket would be the best to use for each of them. I did use one of the zippered pockets for a battery pack and charging cable, but didn’t find much use for the others. The front pocket, despite having a myriad of internal pockets, was still mostly useful for stuffing things inside the compartment, such as a jacket or my Bose headphone case. #AER FIT PACK CARRYOLOGY FULL#Closing the main compartment, even at full capacity, was smooth although it naturally requires some compression of the bag for the zipper to get through bulkier areas. Two packing cubes stacked on each other can fit in the top half of the main compartment. On the side, next to the shoes, is where I could stuff my dopp kit or bath towel. It’s worth noting I have relatively large feet (size 11–11.5). Packing the bag is pretty easy for the main compartment - even with the shoe compartment occupied, I was able to still place a packing cube either on top or below where the shoes protrude. Assorted gummies and chips to avoid paying up the wazoo for inferior airplane snacks.Bose over-ear headphones with carry case.A dopp kit (not the Aer one), shoved either into the main compartment or at the bottom of the front compartment.3 packing cubes in the main compartment - 1 for socks/underwear/PJs, 1 for a formal outfit (button down shirt, slacks, belt, tie, dress socks), and 1 for T-shirts, pants, and shorts.Roughly, here’s how I packed the travel pack (sorry, I do not have a fancy GIF/instagram-worthy photo of all my stuff miraculously fitting inside the bag): Again, since it doesn’t have the same volume as a standard rolling carry-on, I was forced to pack a little lighter for trips more than 3 nights, which isn’t a bad thing. Prior to writing this review, I’ve taken the bag on four short trips, ranging from 2–5 nights.
